- Money well spent! Addison is amazing. He helped us and our puppy. We rescued our puppy and within the first week of being home, we knew we needed some support. Nick was honest about how much work Lily would need but did not oversell us. She had been very poorly socialized before coming to live with us and struggled with the effects of litter mate syndrome. We worked with Holly Wengerski and we thought she was terrific. Admittedly, at first I thought she might be too tough (this is our first dog so we have no point of reference) but I very quickly realized that Holly had sized up how Ranger "operated" and in order to achieve the training goals we had for him (better walks- no pulling on the leash and dragging us along, stopping and refusing to walk, coming (the first time) when we call him, not charging at guests when they come to our front door, sitting and staying etc.) we had to be tough. We had several sessions with Holly, and though it was quite expensive, I believe it was money well spent. Appointments were easy to set up, Holly was always on time (early in fact), and each session I felt was very productive- she seems to have a great understanding of how dogs think and behave. We spent time in our backyard, walking in the neighborhood, at the beach, and at Hollyfeed practicing the skills in "real world" situations/environments. For several of the sessions we even had Holly's dog accompany us to help Ranger along with his training. Holly would then send an email with "homework" to practice. Suburban K9 believes in-home training is more effective and convenient than traditional dog training classes. At home, we’re able to provide a deeper, more focused level of one-on-one attention—the gold standard in dog training. Our in-home training obedience training sessions are an hour long to ensure we can make progress in each lesson. Here’s how we approach working with your pup:
The first ten to fifteen minutes of the session are devoted to our trainers learning all about your dog and exactly what is going on. This is the time for you to discuss specific problems your dog is having. The more our trainers are able to learn, the better they can help.
The remainder of the session is devoted to training. Our professionals will show you how the training is done—instead of just telling you—and provide tips for practicing what you and your dog have learned.
Each lesson ends with the trainer assigning you and your dog customized homework based on your goals. You’ll be able to ask questions about anything and everything related to your dog. Even after your lesson you can reach out to your trainer with questions at no extra charge.
