FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a typical lesson like?
In the initial lesson your trainer will sit down and learn about your dog and their personality. They will also discuss the goals that your family has for your dog. We understand that every dog is different and every family has a different idea of what they are looking for from their dog. Once we have determined your goals we lay out a game plan and get to work on it right away. The trainer will work with your dog and show you the things that you need to work on. At the end of the lesson the trainer will provide you with homework to work on in-between lessons.
Should I plan to be home for the training?
It is best that everyone that will be involved in the training is present for at least the first lesson. After the first lesson there are options for you either being present or having us work with the dog when you are not home. You should talk with your trainer about which approach is best for your individual situation.
I have more than one dog. Can you train multiple dogs at the same time?
With In-Home training we can work with all the dogs in your home. Better yet, there is no additional charge for working with multiple dogs within a standard length lesson. If you have multiple dogs and extensive goals for each of them, the trainer might recommend adding on additional time to your lessons.
What do you mean by "risk-free program"
We offer a Money Back Guarantee. If you aren’t happy with your first lesson, just let your trainer know and we will issue a full refund. If you decide to move forward with a package of lessons and at any point within the first 31 days determine the package isn’t for you, we will refund any unused lessons.

We purchased the year package and it has been the best decision we’ve ever made. Let me start off by saying he’s an English mastiff which are very big and strong dogs. Julia made us feel confident in our dog and he has grown into such a smart and well trained dog. We couldn’t have gotten were we are today without Julia’s help. She has so many techniques that I wouldn’t think to use. She’s knowledgeable, helpful, passionate and always looking out for what’s best for Odin and us. If we didn’t feel comfortable with something she would adjust the training to suit us and our dog. She’s very talented with dogs and we all know every dog is different and needs special attention in either one or more areas of learning. We will forever be a customer and recommended Suburban K9to anyone that needs help with their dog. Thank you for all your hard work and making our dog have structure but still be a dog!!! You’re the best!!! read less

Lexi is the best! My pups responded so well to her training and I learned to identify things I was doing to make the dogs act certain ways. Lexi didn't just train my dogs, she trained me, too! I highly recommend Suburban K9. read less

Everything was so smooth with regard to scheduling through the front desk staff, payment options being clearly explained, and pricing structure making sense for just about any budget. You get what you pay for when it comes to training and these guys are the real deal. We're one week in to the 1 year program with Regan and our dutch shepherd absolutely loves her. Within the first week, he's already learned more from her than I ever imagined. Way better than the big-box pet supply stores who offer group classes. Thank you guys so much for helping us and our new puppy! read less

Exceeded our expectations (greatly improved behavior in just 1 lesson). He has come a long way with the training he has received. Both Maggie an Erin were very knowledgeable with various training methods that can be used in different situations. Our dog loved our trainers and the other dogs used for socialization. We recommended Suburban K-9 to some of our friends who have been very happy with their training as well. Our trainers were able to explain dog psychology to us so we could better understand the behavior of our dog. Our trainers were accessible for any questions and very reliable.
I would not hesitate to recommend this company for a truly wonderful and positive experience!

We had 5 in home sessions with Nelson who helped us transform our crazy/anxious and sometimes aggressive American bulldog into a well mannered calm boy. Nelson was awesome at listening to our goals and providing us with the tools to make these things a reality. He went above and beyond to get our questions answered and his humorous/down to earth personality make him wonderful to work with. We are so thankful! read less

OUR TRAINERS COME TO YOUR HOME!

Suburban K9 believes in-home training is simply more effective and convenient than many traditional classes. At home, we’re able to provide a deeper, more focused level of one-on-one attention—the gold standard in dog training. Our in-home training is an hour and a half long to ensure we can make progress with each lesson. Here’s how we approach improving your pup’s behavior:

The first ten to fifteen minutes of the session are devoted to our trainers learning all about your dog. This is the time for you to discuss specific problems your dog is having. The more our trainers are able to learn, the better they can help.

The remainder of the session is devoted to training. Our professionals will show you how the training is done—instead of just telling you—and provide tips for practicing what you and your dog have learned.

Lessons end with the trainer assigning customized homework based on your dog’s goals. You’ll also be able to ask questions about anything and everything related to your dog. You can even contact your trainer after the session for no extra charge.

The best thing about in-home training is our ability to meet the needs of customers on a variety of budgets. Sometimes clients want us to focus on one or two behaviors, while others prefer a more complete package.
