Dogtra E Collar Titanium Enhanced Contacts and Comfort Pad vs. Educator Wingtip Ultra Comfort Pad
Before discovering Dogtra's Titanium Enhanced Contacts and Comfort Pad, the Wingtip Ultra Comfort Pad was our go to when getting a better fit with an E collar. You can check out our review here!
At first glance, Dogtra's E collar extensions look quite similar to The Wing Tip Comfort Pad. The main difference is the end nodes; on the Dogtra, they are bent more inward and have a more well rounded surface area.
When compared to the Wingtip Ultra Comfort pad, it's hard to pick a winner. Suppose your dog has a super thick coat like a Husky or an Akita. In that case, the Educator Comfort Pad may perform better as the shape makes it easier to cut through their fur. The Dogtra extenders will undoubtedly help with this but may struggle more with the shaggiest breeds.
With that being said, Dogtra's extenders seem to be more gentle on a dog's skin due to its inverted shape and rounded off edges. If you have a golden retriever or another breed that tends to have more sensitive skin, the Dogtra may be the way to go.
How do I install the Dogtra E Collar Titanium Enhanced Contacts and Comfort Pad?
To install, we recommend using a pair of pliers to gently remove the stock contact points. Place the extenders on the E Collar and hand tighten, then finish tightening with the tool provided. Once this is on, you are ready to try it on your dog.

Tips for using the Dogtra E Collar Titanium Enhanced Contacts and Comfort Pad
- Resizing the collar: The new extensions may affect the size. Please make sure you adjust the size of the fit to where the collar does not slide and where you can get two fingers under the collar.
- Rotate contact position: We recommend rotating the collar every couple of hours to avoid any moisture build up or contact sores!
- Adjust the correction settings: At this point, you most likely know your dog's stimulation range, but remember, using these extenders will make better contact. Therefore, there's a chance that their range can be lowered because it has a better connection with their skin.
What is the proper fit on an E Collar for dogs?
Ensuring your dog's E collar is making good contact with their neck will ensure that you can train effectively and safely! The general rule is it should be fairly snug, but loose enough for you to get two fingers between the collar and the dog's neck.
What Size do I get for the Dogtra E Collar Titanium Enhanced Contacts and Comfort Pad?
The one we reviewed in the video is large, which fits Dogtra's ARC model. To find the right fit for your Dogtra model, consult the chart below!
E Collar Training
As mentioned in every E Collar video, we do not teach with E Collars; we reinforce rules. So, before purchasing any E collar, you must ensure your dog is fully trained and has a reliable recall. Once you have achieved this and follow a good proofing plan, then your dog is ready for an E collar. Please read our article or watch our video below for more information!
Conclusion
The Dogtra Titanium Enhanced Contact Points make a world of difference when training your dog on an E Collar. All in all, we 100% recommend getting a comfort pad if your dog has long fur. This makes your E collar use easier and keeps your dog's neck safe from contact sores!
