Cynthia lives on a fixed income and federal housing project and wants to do everything she can to give Mabel a happy life. Before training, Mabel caused a lot of stress to Cynthia’s life. Mabel has separation anxiety and barks whenever Cynthia leaves. She reacts poorly on leash when she passes dogs and jumps on house guests. In training, we are going to focus on raising Mabel’s confidence through obedience so she responds better in those tough situations, and also work on manners in the home and on leash!
Summary of 1st Lesson: On the first Gives Back session, we acclimated Mabel to a training collar to teach her to walk properly on a walk because she loves to pull! She picked up how to walk nicely very quickly and we were able to touch in on dog passes. We took the rest of the lesson inside and worked on kennel work, to help with her separation anxiety. We also taught Cynthia our correction process for Mabel’s naughty behaviors and showed her some door boundaries.
Summary of 2nd Lesson: We had some very rainy weather so we did our whole lesson mainly inside. We worked through all obedience sit stay, down stay and come. She did a great job. We also went over door control and kennel work.
Summary of 3rd Lesson: This lesson we worked on Mabel being behaved around the apartment community rooms and in the hallway. We heeled through the hallways and worked on sit stay and down stays in the community spaces. We also worked on her doing calm greetings to the other in the facility. She started with jumping and by the end of the lesson she was saying hi with no jumping.
Summary of Final Lesson: We worked mainly on adjusting to an e collar for barking out the window and for recall. She adjusted well and took to it easily. The client was very happy that this would help her better control Mabel from a distance and ensure a better behaved Mabel in the home! Mabel has made such great progress!
