Twila was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and has been an animal lover from the very beginning. She has had pets her whole life – even a hedgehog! As an Animal Science major at Texas A&M, she found every opportunity to work with animals she could. Twila also spent a semester in the Kentucky Bluegrass region as a Thoroughbred Breeding Farm intern.
By her senior year, she was the coordinator for the Texas A&M/Bryan Federal Prison Camp Canine Companions for Independence team, a group of students that worked with Service Dogs in Training. In that role, she worked with the CCI director at the prison, where about fifteen inmates trained the dogs. Her team’s job was to take the dogs out every other week and socialize them to the real world. Through that experience, Twila realized that dog training was her calling.
When she isn’t busy working with animals, Twila enjoys reading, painting, and gaming with her friends. She enjoys hanging out on the couch and watching movies with her rescue cats, Starr and Binx, and her dog, Remy!
