Let me start my saying.... hands down 5+++ stars! STOP LOOKING ANY FURTHER FOR A TRAINER!! This is your stop! We had the wonderful Twila as our trainer (for both me and my pup Luna). I cannot even begin to share all of our success. Luna was 10 months old when we started the 2 week board and train with Twila. I missed Luna like the moment she left. And even cried the second day she was gone. But Twila made me feel so comfortable and reassured me that Luna was in good hands and was safe. All that outta the way... Luna is stubborn, whiney, and sassy. She's got an attitude for days and does things on her own time, and gives the funniest side eye ever! Twila would send us updates and pics of some of the daily activities. So when Luna came back to me.... I was like WOWWW!!! Is this the same dog!?. Like for real!!! Our main goal for Luna was loose leash walk and being more patient when we would give attention to our other doggy when we would get home. She was super rambunctious and shes quite strong. Luna was an attention hog. And would sometimes get aggressive and 'play bite' when she wanted attention back from us petting our other dog. 'Play bite'... well.. that hurts! So when I walked Luna (under the supervision of Twila), it was like a completely different dog. (Side note, Luna caused me a dislocated shoulder, and a torn rotator cuff). So naturally I was afraid to walk Luna. But I did, and Luna was fantastic. Like completely a different dog. She was/is still super skiddish, (anxiety), and she is very easily distracted. She walked great on the loose leash with me for the first time. Heel and stopping, sitting and loose leash, and stay. Twila gave us homework and when she came back a week later for a follow up, she gave me more tips and evaluated us and how we did on our homework. (Naturally the student (Luna) is gonna behave better when the teacher is around). The specific homework was really helpful. Then fast forward 2 weeks for our last follow up---- omggg!!! Luna had a complete melt down on one of our walks (during homework time) as she was completely freaking out when some larger dogs were barking at her behind a fence and loud noises as we were walking. She nearly ran into the street, and I literally was like running trying to control her. When Twila took us to the same spot of Luna's meltdown, she showed me exactly how to overcome that hurdle, and to keep Luna calm and get her back on track. My issue is that I felt bad for yelling at Luna, or having to be so hard on her, or be strict, but I realized I AM THE BOSS, not Luna. I had to learn to stand firm! And Luna feeds on our energy. Nonetheless, the best choice for us was definitely Suburban K9, and Twila is your gal! She was very responsive and answered all my questions and concerns. We had Twila with our Franny girl for about 3 weeks. Franny was still a new puppy (5-6 months old) and after a bad experience with another board and train (small business) we were hopeful that suburban K-9 being a large franchise would make it different. Franny had a night and day experience. The first training facility said that Franny shouldn’t do board and train because of her breed (she’s a whippet). Twila sat down with us and talked to us about board and train with her and our wishes with Franny. When Franny went to Twila’s we got every other day updates. Twila sent us lots of pictures and videos. She made fast friends with Twila’s cat (so we know she is cat friendly!). So many videos of her getting to play with other dogs at her group sessions and learning her commands. Twila spent hours with us after bringing her home showing us her commands. We loved that Suburban K-9 isn’t a treat based training. We want Franny to obey when we don’t have treats! Twila was a great support to have when Franny wouldn’t stop messing in her kennel at night. Using her suggestions, we were able to get her to stop and she hasn’t since! Franny is an AMAZING walker and doesn’t pull or get ahead of us. She has great door manners and is slowly improving on her guest manners. If you’re on the fence, just do a consultation. Twila truly cares and it shows when you just talk to her. She takes detailed notes and works with your specific issues/dog’s personality. She is amazing and Franny is a much more enjoyable dog because of it!

Twila from Suburban K9 did a great job with our pup! He did a 2 week board and train program and she sent us progress updates and photos every 2 days. Our dog learned so much and we would definitely have Twila train our future pups!

Twila has been AMAZING in training our 90# Rhodesian Ridgeback. She has been so patient with him, as he is quite the stubborn boy, and has been kind but firm with him in his training. We’ve done 9 of our 10 sessions and our pup is more willing, more patient, and SO well-behaved compared to before. We cannot say enough good things and HIGHLY recommend Twila with Suburban K9!

Suburban K9 and specifically Twila have been amazing. Our puppy loves her and has learned so much in a short amount of time. We used the train and stay for a week and then have been getting weekly at home visits. My pup is a bit nervous so not having to leave the house makes it all the better. Thanks for caring about your job and others Twila, it shows and we appreciate you!!

Twila was awesome. Our high anxiety new dog, Denver, benefitted tremendously from the training. Even our old girl, Perry, found she has a few things to learn.

We have a German Shepard puppy that is very energetic, playful and would not listen. She is very loving but we could not enjoy her as a family they way we wanted because she was hard to handle. We decided to do a board and train for our puppy and Amy and Twila were the best trainers we could have had. They understood what we wanted as a family and each of us individually and what our goal was as far as being able to have our pup with us on family activities.They worked with our pup in a carrying way and kept us informed on her progress. After the two week training was done and they dropped off our pup, we could immediately see the improvement. They worked with us to show us how to work with our pup and make sure that we were able to execute all the commands and how to correct any misbehavior. We are extremely please with their work and the follow up visits. They were great at answering any questions we had and make sure we are comfortable with how we handle our pup. We would definitely use them again if we got another dog.

Twila ia a very patient and very positive influence on my Westie, Wee Jock. Jock is smart, but also independent and self-assured. After a group of sessions with Twila, he actually listens to me now and looks to me for direction. I couldn't be happier with Suburban K9. Jock and I will continue with Suburban when we are in our new home in a few months.

I sent my 1 year old Golden Retriever to Suburban K9 for a two week board and train. She worked with both Amy and Twila and I could not recommend them enough. They kept me up to date with pictures and videos of how my dog was doing and how the training was going. She came back well rounded and well behaved. The best part is I could tell how much she loved her time with them. They have given me time and resources to help me be the best trainer as well. Still work to do to, but I know I can get my dog to the level of training I want with their assistance.

Our experience with Suburban K9, namely Twila but also Maggie and Sam, has been nothing short of exceptional. We had a tough time with our rescue puppy, but they all came in and worked absolute magic with her! We are experienced dog owners, but Twila and the rest of the team gave us all the tools we needed to train this little ball of energy and nerves. With the amount of plans they have, we were able to chose one that fit our budget. The free consultation was incredibly helpful as well! We have seen such an improvement in just a few lessons, and that has given us hope that this pup can get along with others well. They are very upfront about owners doing the “homework” given with each lesson, and if you put in the time to do what they say, you’ll get the desired results! Twila in Houston, was an excellet trainer for our dog Skye. She is very compassionate and caring and our dog loved her. We were given regular updates with pictures as to how our dog was progressing. She came back to us very well trained Well done K9!! and Twila Much appreciated!!

We have had a great experience with our trainer, Twila. She is so thorough, knowledgeable, and very clearly passionate about what she does. She does an excellent job of teaching me and my family how to interact effectively with our dog and build a great human/canine relationship. When we got our new puppy I wanted to make sure that we started off in the best possible way and avoid any behavior and obedience issues I’ve experienced with pets in the past. Twila has been great at helping us achieve that goal. She explains everything step by step and not only teaches us what to do but also why. The training is very effective and everyone who meets our dog is amazed by her obedience at only 6 months old. And our puppy just loves Twila! She is so excited to see her each and every lesson, even though Twila makes her work hard! I am confident that this obedience training is laying the foundation for many happy years with our sweet pup. I highly recommend Twila and Suburban K9!
