LaShaunti is a Chicago native raised in the southern suburbs. She’s loved animals ever since she was a kid, but she’s always had a special love for dogs. Her first dog was a long-haired dachshund who lived to be 12. She was a girl’s best friend and fueled her passion for animals. As a kid, LaShaunti was constantly watching Animal Planet with her dog and various other pets.
After graduating high school, LaShaunti started college at Southern Illinois University Carbondale studying Pre-Veterinary Animal Science. While studying this program, she realized she wanted to work with animals, but not in a hospital setting due to the severe discomfort that animals in that environment had to experience. From there, she transferred to Heartland Community College, receiving an Associates of Arts and went on to earn her degree in Agriculture Animal Science from Illinois State University. There, she got to step out of her comfort zone and experience handling farm animals, such as horses, cows, and pigs.
Throughout college, LaShaunti made extra money walking and boarding dogs at her home through Rover, as well as for friends and family. She got her first job working with dogs at a boarding/daycare facility, where she really fell in love with the behaviors of dogs and built a deeper relationship with them. She always strives to help people build better connections with their dogs by helping them better understand their behaviors.
LaShaunti loves to spread her sunshine by wearing her favorite color yellow, from her car to her favorite pair of glasses. She loves the outdoors, art, traveling, food, and of course, anything to do with hanging out with her dog baby, Joey, and cat baby, Caramel Macchiato.
