Shelby trained my standard poodle puppy Lucy at her “In home board and train” program. She did a great job and Lucy came back to us much better than she left. It’s a continuous process when they are puppies and Shelby was available for additional training for us and Lucy. We are very happy with the results. We highly recommend Shelby and Suburban K9.

We had done some basic training with our dog, but we were greatly struggling with walking at heel and communicating our behavior expectations to our young dog. Suburban K-9’s trainer gave us the tools to create clear behavior expectations and an improved bond with our dog. The moment I met Haley I told myself, this young lady doesn’t know anything about training dogs. Was I wrong. From the time when she conducted the evaluation, she was very professional and showed that she really likes to works with dogs and she knew them. There were classes that it took us to the parks, stores and shopping mall, Haley didn’t miss a beat. When she had to show me how to do something, she was clear and effective on her instructions. We love Haley and the way she teaches was clear and concise. The company itself makes the appointments according to your availability and send you remainders so you won’t miss the class. We reached out with our 9 month old golden retriever puppy Luna. She was always so excited and just wouldn’t listen to any basic commands. Just after a couple weeks we saw a huge improvement. I can't say enough about Cara and her transforming our little Luna into the focused, happy, well behaved little girl we knew she could be! We were so impressed with all the new commands she learned. Luna continues to grow and get better each day. I remember the day she brought her home after two weeks. I saw the bond that has been created between the two of them. It was extremely special. She trusted her and had respect for her. She wanted to listen and do the right thing. We couldn’t have had a better trainer. She always worked with us and taught us so much. We are forever grateful for Cara and everything she has done to help our family. She follows up and checks in with us all the time. Her notes are so detailed which makes it a lot easier for us to continue working with her. Anytime I reach out or have a question she follows up quickly. Highly recommend! Cara worked with our dog who was having some aggression issues with dogs and people. She worked diligently with him on commands and obedience until he was able to complete his final test in Home Depot surrounded by unfamiliar people and noises and hasn't had a problem since!

I cannot thank Suburban K9 and Cara enough for the amazing transformation in my 1 year old golden doodle Korra. We did house call visits spread out over 4 months. The cost was well worth the investment in all of our sanity and happiness. Korra is a very smart and independent minded dog. She was nipping, growling when she didn’t want to be bothered, pulling like crazy on her leash and very reactive to well, everything but especially other dogs, people and bicycles when walking. She would also bark at our glass door at every passing boat, jet ski, bird, etc. she is now a very well behaved girl. We can take her into Lowe’s in a busy day and she heels without barking. She is a work in progress with other dogs but can heel outside the dog park fence and not lose her mind barking at every dog. We are working on her coming when free in our back yard and she is improving and becoming more consistent. Cara worked a lot on training me which is key to having good and consistent results. She would also take her in “field trips” with out me to work in socialization, riding in car, going through drive thoughs, etc. She was very patient, kind, and consistent and fun to work with. We are much happier and don’t feel exhausted any more. Best of all Korra is a happier, more contented dog. I would 100% recommend Suburban K9 and Cara!

OH MY GOSH! What an incredible job Cara did with our Boxer pup, Penny! When she left on the board and train, Penny had picked up some training but when she returned…WOW! She made so much progress and we are so excited to continue on with her over the next year as Penny progresses into working as a service dog. Penny’s focus has improved so much and her demeanour has not changed one bit.We are so pleased with the work Cara and the Team at Suburban K9 did with our Penny! The Board and Train program works wonderfully as it is designed and the progress Penny made was worth every penny (no pun intended). We 100% recommend Suburban K9 for all your training needs!

Our trainer Haley has done amazing work with our two puppies. She really knows how to teach in any situation. We all, me and the pups learned so much from her. Well worth investing in our fur babies!

I didn’t think it was possible to train my aggressive rescue dog. I had 2 other trainers try but fail. One trained using fear, the other just taught him the basics, which he already knew. My dog Max was found in a field starving to death . He was taken to a high kill shelter, where I rescued him. Max was very aggressive when I brought him home. To the point of slamming himself into the front door and growling. No one could come onto the property. He got out once and bit the lawn guy. That was it, I didn’t know what to do with him. I didn’t want to surrender him but I was too afraid he’d get out and bite again. As a last resort I looked for an experienced trainer. It worked!! Haley from Suburban K-9 is the best. I was very skeptical but from the first visit I knew Haley had something special. Max has had several lessons now, it’s unbelievable. We go to the dog park, other parks, Lowe’s, the Farmers Market with no problems at all. Kids and adults come up and pet him. It’s truly like he’s a different dog! Haley is a very knowledgeable, proficient and accommodating dog trainer, who I highly recommend.

Suburban K-9 was a perfect fit for our 1 year old yellow lab, Henry. His trainer, Cara, was informative, caring and patient. She worked with me so I could help with some of Henry’s anxieties. Some of our goals before beginning the training sessions included less barking at people and other dogs, less pulling during walks and walking Henry together with our chocolate lab. At the end of our 10 weeks together, all of our goals were met. The most noticeable difference is that he no longer pulls when on his leash. I highly recommend Suburban K-9 if you are looking for effective dog training.

We had wonderful results with Suburban K-9! Shelby was our training expert. Her calm and determined demeanor taught our very stubborn and bossy Mini-Schnauzer better manners. He is no longer angered by the doorbell and heels beautifully. The ten lesson package worked well for us, and I highly recommend this company to help you with your fur baby.

Haley Warren worked with myself and our dog Loki. Loki was a challenge for me in many ways. He is our fourth rescue dog in fifty years so I am not new to working with dogs and cats who need a kind and steady home. Loki posed special problems that were above my experience so I contracted Suburban K9 Dog Training. Haley and her colleague Matt began the the first two training sessions and Haley took over the last four. My results were an amazing positive change in Loki's behavior. We changed Loki"s training collar, Haley gave me exercises on how to approach grooming, she even brought over other trained dogs to help in exercises for controlling his aggressiveness. I am very pleased with the program Suburban K9 Dog Training provided for Loki and me. With careful training and consistant kind handling we have a dog with a much improved demeanor.

I highly recommend Suburban K9 dog training. Our trainer, Cara, is a subject matter expert in shepherd training! Cara provided me with a ton of helpful training advice and material on a weekly basis. In only five lessons, our Australian Shepherd, Charlie, was no longer counter surfing or nipping. He also mastered heel walking and sitting in several different environments.

Hello. My name is Debbie and I wanted to share our experience with Suburban K9 and specifically our doggie trainer Haley. From the moment we inquired into their services to the completion of our pups training we were completely kept in the loop as to her training (including pictures) of her having a good time and learning to be a happy and socialized doggie. We rescued Penny as a stray and didn’t realize she was going to be a bit of a handful. Haley’s professional expertise along with her passion for doing the right thing for her trainees had been exemplary! Training has been so helpful. I adopted a mini Aussie with an aggression problem. They balanced the needs of the pup and family. My dog is doing so well as his best self. Very professional.

I chose the year plus Suburban K9 training package with Shelby Adkins. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. When I adopted my pit mix rescue puppy Willow, Shelby began the process of training and socializing Willow. Shelby has a natural intuition with animal behavior. She listens to dogs and to their owners which is key. Her leadership and confidence encouraged me to hang in there and keep moving forward. Several weeks into training, things were going so well, Shelby and her team Cara and Haley, helped Willow and I choose a second rescue puppy to join our family pack. Our 4-month-old Great Dane mix boy, Chance, quickly became forever best friends with Willow. We've all "done the work" under Shelby's guidance and it's paying off well! My dogs are confident, patient, socialized and love to have adventures! I never dreamed I would be able to jump in the car with two large breed puppies and go to festivals, parks, cafes, and my parents's Senior Living facility. K9 dog training is truly a blessing. They are amazing, caring trainers who have made such a difference in my dogs behavior. My dog would bolt constantly and due to their training I know he’s safe. Can’t recommend Cara and Shelby enough!
