Lauren was such an amazing trainer! She catered each training session to our needs and goals with our dog. She was very helpful in setting realistic goals and giving us the tools to be successful both between appointments and also now after training has completed. We are now able to bring our lab out to new parks, coffee shops, and beer gardens and he learned impulse control when guests come over. We didn’t know if we could ever do those things and she made it pawsible! Highly recommend!

We needed a strong but compassionate and professional trainer for our new Aussie. After interviewing 4 companies, we settled on K9 and could not be happier. Engagement was timely and professional. Trainer Shelby was simply amazing and our pup has remained himself while learning important commands. I would recommend to anyone.

Shelby Naab is a superstar when it comes to training dogs. We’ve had dogs for 40 years and then we got two doodles. A Bernadoodle and a Pyradoodle Murphy and Bella . They are 10 months apart in age and nothing like any dogs we ever had. All our others we trained ourselves but nothing worked that worked before We decide to use a trainer( 2in fact) but nothing helped Out of desperation we called Suburban K9 and Shelby came to our rescue. She has turned our dogs into wonderful companions who love to go to Home Depot and fleet farm and even an occasional beer garden The dogs love her so much that we can’t say her name otherwise they run to the front window looking for her and cry when she leaves We can’t thank her enough If you need a truly spectacular trainer then Shelby is you girl!!! Suburban K9’s trainer Maggie did a wonderful job working with our dog Teddy. who was a fearful dog. She showed us how to build trust and confidence for Teddy to be able to interact with our Friends dog without aggression. Maggie was patient, knowledgeable and taught us how to read Teddy’s body language so he could interact appropriately in stressful situations.

Shelby has been great! We've had two prior dogs from pet rescues and managed to train them to be safe with group classes at the humane society and doing the rest on our own, but we got our current dog 2 years ago when he was a few months old and didn't realize until he was 1 year old and almost 90lbs that he's afraid of the world and solves that problem by being aggressive towards strangers. Got him into training with Shelby several months ago and started feeling a little hopeless with how quickly he'd become aggressive and how hard he was to control. Several months in, we still have some work to do, but we've safely introduced him to strangers without him getting aggressive, which we'd thought might never happen. Our dog's ears perk up when we tell him Shelby is coming for training that day.

When I called K9 suburban, I had pretty much given up hope for our 3 yr old cattle dog, Oakley. He was having a very difficult time accepting people in our home and allowing people to approach the house without lunging and barking. Oakley was born at the beginning of the pandemic and was not properly socialized. A behaviorist had pretty much written him off and told us he needed to be heavily medicated. With the help of Maggie, we learned calming techniques to use to make these situations more comfortable for Oakley and also for ourselves and our guests. By repeating these techniques over and over Oakley learned to tolerate people approaching and entering our house. Although we still leash him around guests, he is now more accepting of having visitors in the same room without lunging and barking. We are continuing to use these techniques and others to eventually allow Oakley and guests to get comfortable approaching each other. In summary Maggie was a key factor in getting Oakley to be more tolerant of visitors in and around our home. Joan

We worked with Lauren at Suburban K9, and I feel this was a good investment. First, we went from a puppy that was quite literally a tornado in our home, to one that is a good puppy citizen. We started when our pup was 5 months and just wrapped up at 12 months. By all accounts our pup is still a puppy but behaves like a good dog: sit, stay, lay down, come commands, and overall manners. We loved that training sessions combined in home, parks, and other public places like petco. We have a sense of security knowing our dog can adapt in a variety of settings. We would highly recommend Suburban K9 to work with you / your dog. Not only do they train your dog, but give you the tools to continue training. It's satisfying to watch your puppy grow and become a good doggy.

Our 1 year old golden doodle, Rory, was super high energy and would not listen to us unless we bribed her with treats. After working with Lauren for only 10 sessions, we have seen a world of a difference in Rory’s skills and behaviors. Not to mention she listens to all of her commands with no treats involved. Rory no longer counter surfs, stays in her yard, and is not mouthy. We have been so impressed with Lauren and Suburban K9 Milwaukee and would recommend her to anyone looking for a dog trainer.

I cannot speak highly enough of SK-9 and our trainer, Shelby. Our beautiful pup used to bark at everything, pull on the leash so hard he injured more than one family member, and rush and jump on anyone coming in the door. After the one year program with Shelby, he’s so well behaved. He still barks- it’s instinct- but we can easily redirect him so the barking stops within seconds. He no longer rushes the door every time he hears the doorbell, he no longer jumps on people coming in (still jumps on us, but we do allow that). He can sit and stay for an extended period of time and his leash behavior is so improved that we can let our youngest (8 yr old) take him out for short walks. He is still the same funny, energetic, spry doggo- just so much more we’ll behaved and manageable. Shelby was very clear from the get go that consistency and daily practice were key to success. She worked with the whole family and we practiced in different scenarios, including dog park, neighborhood walk, etc. Since working with Shelby, even our friends have noticed how much more we’ll behaved our dog is. Would give Shelby and SK9 a hundred stars if I could!

Shelby was professional, courteous, personable and warm. She gave us valuable insight and instruction with our 2 year old Rottie rescue, Bryn. Cannot say how much we appreciate the service she provided!

Shelby is a fantastic trainer! The whole family learned a lot from her. She trained our young puppy to do so much more than I thought was possible. A total game changer!

Suburban K-9 trainer Shelby Naab has been amazing. I have 3 female Cane Corsos and my home was chaos initially, I had not done a very good job of socialization and it showed. With Shelby's expertise and guidance my girls have learned their manners and are starting to make strides being comfortable in crowded public areas and are working on being comfortable with strangers in our home. My dogs love her and are always so excited when she would come for a training session. The skills I learned about how to train my dogs are invaluable. This was worth every single penny and I wish I had contacted her sooner.

We met Shelby 2 years ago after we rescued our very energetic and younger than expected mixed breed pup. We quickly recognized that he needed more advanced training to become the best and happiest dog he could be. He was very sweet, but he had never lived in a home, didn’t have the best family manners, and was afraid of most everything. We also had a 6 year old mini golden doodle who we had dedicated substantial time and training as a puppy. We had phone conversations with a number of dog trainers in the area, and instantly connected with Shelby. She understood what we were looking for in working with our new rescue addition and also agreed on the importance for both of our dogs to have a positive dynamic. We started with a 2 week board and train for both dogs and have had follow up sessions as needed to maintain all the great progress. As a result of working with Shelby, our rescue dog listens so well, is the best friend to our older dog, is no longer scared of everything around him, and has improved dramatically around other dogs. Best of all, he has been so gentle and sweet around babies and kids. In addition, both dogs bark so much less in reaction to their surroundings. Shelby has been a fantastic resource for us, we trust her 100%, and our dogs just love her. She has a very calm, confident, and effective approach that is as important and beneficial for the dogs as it is for us.

Our mini bernedoodle Boomer is as stubborn as he is sweet and lovable. For two years we struggled through treat based training classes with virtually no progression and a pup that concluded he could possibly just do whatever he wants! Our in-home training sessions with Lauren and Suburban K9 were the answer to turning things around. Boomer was taught to listen and behave from a place of respect rather than: "maybe I'll obey if you give me cheese and say pretty please"! He now walks like a dream, plays in the yard off leash, comes when called and goes with us to fun places; all things that are just so thrilling to finally experience with him. Boomer seems equally happy with his new found freedom. I've also become much more confident in my ability (equally important) to continue training with him as time goes on. Lauren accomplished this transformation with us by being unfailingly: kind, patient, understanding, accommodating and professional. Highly recommend!

Shelby provided the building blocks and experiences over our training sessions to address poor door etiquette and walk behaviors for our 95lb guard dog Luna. We’d done training before, but with Shelby there was an assessment right from the start to develop the right balance of discipline+incentives for Luna. We’ve gotten to the point where it’s not only OK but a joy to take Luna on walks and where she begrudgingly will go to her bed to calm down when someone’s at the door. We are so grateful for Shelby. She was able to help us we’ve been able to smooth Luna’s rougher edges while keeping her playful spirit.

My trainer Shelby helped my dog Starlette and I immensely. Star was unruly on a leash and in her crate. She now walks, heels and sits on command. Star still doesn't love her crate but, now she is more relaxed and not trying to escape anymore. We also worked off leash training. She used to take off and not listen. Now she stays close and comes on command. Shelby was informative, kind, patient. She has been a true asset to making Star the best dog she can be!

Hello all, we just finished the 10 lesson, in home training with our dog Bonita. We also have 2 other dogs during the day as my daughter leaves her basset/beagle with us while at work and we additionally have a black lab/border collie mix. So, Bonita was the new pup, an energetic terrier with history of separation anxiety, very loving and playful. Our daughter passed away a year ago, we’ve had Bonita since. I’m so happy and thankful we went through with the training and we were so fortunate to get Shelby as our trainer! Bonita absolutely loved her and responded to her right off the bat. I can now walk her comfortably without her pulling my arm off, what a joy! I am also able to walk the 2 big dogs myself. Bonita is able to stay home with the other dogs with no cages. Bonita loves our Sasha, they always sleep together. We’ve received so much helpful information from Shelby as well. It’s an amazing thing having animals that know their boundaries. I highly recommend going through with the training, thank you so much Shelby, we will follow up with you again, we already miss you!
