Alex & Oscar are fantastic! Their team approach to training our 3 dogs has been very effective and we are seeing great results!

I sent my shelter pup to board and train with Erin for 2 weeks. Wow, what a difference! He is much more comfortable and confident, less anxious and overall much better behaved. Plus, he walks like a dream on the leash.

We recently had a crazy pup join our family. A little French Bulldog named Dash! When he first came home with us it was obvious we were going to need a ton of help getting him trained. We have other pups in the house but we felt like the best route was to contact a professional. We came along and found Suburban K9, every part of the process was easy and very fitting to what we were looking for. Once training started, we were paired with our trainer Erin, I truly can’t say enough great things about her. During our first meeting she took the time to really understand all of our goals and explained how they meet these goals during the coming weeks or training. After Dash headed off to start with Erin we were updated every step of the way! We received adorable pictures and videos of everything he was learning and all the fun he was having. On his go home date, Erin worked with us showing us everything he learned and how to continue his awesome training at home! If I can go back I would definitely do it all over again. Suburban K9 was a perfect match for us. In particular "K9" sent us Oscar who took our 14 month old Labradoodle puppy Zoony to his home for two weeks and brought back Zoony 2.0! Before meeting Oscar we were quite discouraged. We had tried six weeks of group lessons, 3 in-home lessons, and numerous YouTube and Instagram videos .Our puppy was not listening beyond the treats and walking was a combination of barking and lunging. Zoony 2.0 is now completely calm and attentive to us on walks. She has consistent response to basic commands and what we saw as reactivity has resolved. Certainly the 2 weeks without Zoony were tough. Oscar knew this, and was in frequent communication with detailed emails and videos throughout the two week process that Zoony was with him. We are now at the phase of "owner training" that K 9 includes with the puppy training and can truly appreciate Oscar's clear instructions, gentle corrections, and sincere personal attention to us. Now it's up to us to be the owners Zoony needs to be her best self.

My Suburban K9 trainer is Erin. She has done an outstanding job with my little guy Bilbo. I got the two-weeks boarding training option and she worked miracles. Bilbo came back following commands like I never thought he would. She taught him to sit, down, stay and come on command. She also got him house trained which I tried for almost 3 months with little success. The training doesn't end with the two weeks. She has made herself available for question and assistance to include two follow up training sessions. If you are looking for help with obedience training for your little buddy, I would recommend Erin. She has done an OUTSTANDING job with my Bilbo!

Alex Basset has completely turned our little guy around. He was always a good little dog, but he had an attitude. With Alex’s superb training and knowledge about dogs, she helped turn our Max into an amazing dog and she helped train us, mainly me, on how to deal with him as well as our other little dog. I could not recommend her and K9 Dog Training more. She does truly amazing work, cares for the dogs she trains, and is a very caring person. If you want a dog trainer who will help you make a real difference in your’s and you dog’s life, have Alex and K9 Dog Training train your dogs. You will not regret it!

I had a wonderful experience with Suburban K9. I have a rescue pup from the NSPCA that had not been socialized as a puppy and had attachment and leash aggression issues. My trainer was Alex and she was phenomenal! At the beginning of our 10 week sessions my pup Ranger was unable to go on walks without barking uncontrollably at other dogs and people - it was very stressful for both of us. He also barked uncontrollably in his crate whenever he was left alone at home. By the end of our 10 week session, he was able to walk through Home Depot without barking, and walk through the park in a controlled fashion. She was also able to get him comfortable enough to walk along side other small dogs, where as in the past another dog no matter the size would be unable to get within 20 feet of him without him becoming uncontrollable. He is not perfect and still needs ongoing training due to the trauma from his previous home, but he is FAR better than before training. I can finally go on relaxing walks through my neighborhood and take him on walks in the park. He also no longer barks when he left in his crate at home, which makes me feel so much more comfortable leaving him. Because Alex did such a wonderful job, I plan on purchasing more lessons once the weather cools down so that I can get him to the point where he can enter a dog park to socialize and have some fun!

Erin has guided us in helping transform our puppy from an anxious, fearful and crazy cavapoo to a dog that can walk on a leash, listen to commands and most importantly grow in her confidence around people and other dogs. Erin is patient, clear in her training directions, loving toward animals and listens to understand and deliver exactly what her client needs. We couldn't have asked for a better training experience over our 10 session package. Thank you!

Fantastic! That is how I would characterize my experience with Alex. She is focused and knows canine behavior to a tee. I think its important to hire a expert and have them lead you through the process of training your dog and that expert is Alex. I wasn't disappointed at any point, she is punctual and dedicated. I can't say enough good things about her and how she works to help with training. Best of all our dog loves her!

We had a highly reactive yellow lab both to people and dogs. Erin has been working with us for 6 months.Our dog’s behavior has improved dramatically.Erin is not only a great trainer but a kind person who truly cares about what’s best for the dog and owner. 1 year ago we decided that our girl needed some training and after lots of research we decided to go with Suburban K9, and honestly it was the best decision we could have made! Just before starting training our girl was attacked by 2 other dogs while on a walk and we were worried this might make her even more leash reactive than she already was. Alex helped us learn how to guide her better, walk heel and even be able to have her sit stay for long periods outside, even with other dogs close by. Oli also used to have issues with skateboards and Alex helped us so that now they can go by us no problem. She was crate trained as well which for anyone who adopted during the pandemic will know is a huge thing to be able to go out without worrying about how the little one is doing. Overall we couldn’t have asked for a better trainer. Alex has always been amazing with our girl and helped us so much making life with her the best possible experience for all of us! I have had an absolutely amazing experience with Suburban K9! We have had dogs through the years but, when we added our little French Bulldog to the family we wanted to call in a professional to help with Obedience and Socialization. After extensive research, we decided to go with Suburban K9. Our Trainer Erin was the best to work with! From the moment we met her, we went over all the goals for training and she really made us comfortable with the process. We went with the 3-week board and train package. When deciding between packages, our only hesitation was that we would really miss our pup for the 3 weeks. However, the number of updates we received was incredible!! On days when we weren’t even expecting an update, they came fully loaded with details on what he was learning and they were packed with photos and videos which made us feel like we were there every step of the way. Before we knew it, it was time for him to come home. We were so excited to see him and everything he learned throughout the 3 weeks. He did amazing, everything Erin taught him was right on target with our goals. We were left with amazing tools and homework to continue the learning process. After this, Erin returns multiple times in the coming weeks to follow up on questions and to work with us in-home. Everything has gone perfectly. We are 100% going to be continuing training with Suburban K9, we love everything we’ve learned so far and our pup can’t wait to see Erin again for more sessions! Thank you!

Our puppy was so sassy after first getting her I didn't know if we were going to be able to keep her. She wouldn't listen, would bite, having a hard time crate training, and basically everything else you can imagine in a sassy breed. After a 2 week board and train with Alex she was a completely different dog. She's now one of the most well behaved (even as a puppy) of all the dogs in my group of friends. It truly was amazing the change in her attitude and actions. You can tell Alex loves dogs with the care and attention she gives to each dog. She truly does what's best for them and I can say this training was worth every single penny. I would do it again in a heart beat.

We trained our 5 year old Cane Corso Mac with Alex Bassett to work on leash walking, obedience, socialization and to build his confidence. Background on Mac, he was a rescue from Animal Foundation at 2 years old and initially it took 6 months to get him healthy and medically stable. He previously was attacked by a litter mate while in rescue, and had several unprovoked attacks by our male dog in the house. This led to fear/anxiety when encountering dogs or people outside of the house and restricted our leash walking to only when necessary (like going to the vet). She set out a thorough and realistic plan for the course of our 20 sessions and checked in weekly to see if our goals for training had changed or if we had any new areas of concern. Alex offered a variety of in-house and off-site training locations, always coming up with the right place and method for what we were focussed on and providing many options for “homework” to practice between sessions. We have a whole new relationship with our dog and are beyond impressed and grateful for all of the tools acquired during training. Not only did the training build Mac’s confidence, but ours as well knowing we have the skills to handle whatever we encounter while out on adventures with Mac. If you are skeptical, had previous trainers or “failed” training attempts, I encourage you to contact Alex with Suburban K9. Her talent, determination, kindness and humor are on constant display and make her a joy to work with. We had no idea this much progress and potential was possible for Mac - the training exceeded expectations. Can’t wait to run into Alex at one of the many locations we visited during training to show off how great Mac is doing!

Suburban K9 saved my relationship with my dog. I had a huge, rambunctious, independent, and stubborn rottweiler puppy. She was terrorizing my family with excessive nipping and jumping. She would not listen, and going on walks was a nightmare. Thanks to Erin and her 2-week boot camp. My dog Joy is a brand-new puppy. She’s five months now and beyond a pleasure to be with. She listens, is patient, and loves learning new commands. The nipping of my kids is gone, and walks are a pleasurable, relaxing experience. Our medium poodle went through a two-week board and train program with Alex. We chose Suburban K9 because they offer a Board and Train program during which your dog stays inside the comfort of your trainer’s home, rather than on their own, isolated in a kennel, in a loud room with 20 other dogs. We wanted him to feel loved and given plenty of one-on-one attention and training. The obedience training Alex successfully performed helped solve a number of key problems we had: him pulling on his leash dragging us around when walking, jumping up on people, counter surfing, lunging at us when we sit on our couch eating snacks, etc. Daily life with him is now a LOT easier 😁.

Erin was very nice and a great teacher for my chocolate lab Koa. He was very undisciplined and she was able to build him a foundation of better habits for the future.
