Alex’s love for dogs started at a young age when she read the A-Z dog breed books cover to cover. She told her family that she wanted to be a vegetarian at age six and attended veterinary camp at Washington State University when she was in seventh grade. Growing up, she volunteered at her local animal shelter, which allowed her to gain the confidence to handle dogs that outweighed her. To this day, she will never miss an opportunity to spot a dog across the street and say, “ahh, look at that cute dog!”
In college, she graduated with an accounting degree from Eastern Washington University, which led her to a two-year stint as a Seattle accountant. During her time as an accountant, she also worked for Rover dog sitter. She would often take her lunch break to zip across town and walk the dogs around the park. On the weekends, she would spend her time with the various dogs, sending the owners many photos of their adventures, and she even took two of the dogs to her family’s Christmas (with the owner’s approval). Those two captured the hearts of her family so much that her dad still talks about them.
Alex quickly realized a traditional office job was not for her, and she made a life pivot, quitting her secure accounting job and moving to Las Vegas to “do something fun.” Her family and friends thought she had lost her marbles, but she truly felt the most liberated than she ever had, packing her car with her cat, Arnold, and making the drive to Las Vegas without a job or a plan. She got a job at TopGolf and then later Caesars Palace, where she loved meeting and interacting with people from all over the country and world.
Working for Suburban K9 is her dream job, as it allows her to combine her passion for dogs with her passion for growth, improvement, and helping others. In her free time, you can find Alex lifting weights, running, exploring National parks, or hanging out with her girlfriend and their three furry friends.
