Maggie Deemer

Suburban K9’s trainer Maggie did a wonderful job working with our dog Teddy. who was a fearful dog. She showed us how to build trust and confidence for Teddy to be able to interact with our Friends dog without aggression. Maggie was patient, knowledgeable and taught us how to read Teddy’s body language so he could interact appropriately in stressful situations.

When I called K9 suburban, I had pretty much given up hope for our 3 yr old cattle dog, Oakley. He was having a very difficult time accepting people in our home and allowing people to approach the house without lunging and barking. Oakley was born at the beginning of the pandemic and was not properly socialized. A behaviorist had pretty much written him off and told us he needed to be heavily medicated. With the help of Maggie, we learned calming techniques to use to make these situations more comfortable for Oakley and also for ourselves and our guests. By repeating these techniques over and over Oakley learned to tolerate people approaching and entering our house. Although we still leash him around guests, he is now more accepting of having visitors in the same room without lunging and barking. We are continuing to use these techniques and others to eventually allow Oakley and guests to get comfortable approaching each other. In summary Maggie was a key factor in getting Oakley to be more tolerant of visitors in and around our home. Joan

I can't say enough about Suburban K9. In Dec I got a very skittish, anti social border collie- Harper. Then COVID hit and I needed help, it was years since I had a puppy, so I called Suburban K9, and Maggie D came out to my house to visit. I was nervous and actually wonder if this program would help me. Maggie assured me that everything was going to be great, and Harper is a smart little puppy, she just needs confidence and training. Maggie went on to explain why Harper acts the way she does and what she plans on teaching Harper to over come her fears. Speaking to Maggie about my concerns, I could tell that Maggie really is compassionate and cares for dogs. Maggie truly loves her job. Not only did Maggie re- educate me about how dogs think, training, behavior, and how I can improve in my training as well but also Harper's issues. Within 2 weeks I noticed a great difference in Harper, she was coming out of her shell, and is socializing, Harper really loves Maggie's presence. Every session is Awesome!. I love the updates, pictures and information Maggie sends to me. I could have not done this by myself. I highly recommend. Suburban K9 and Maggie. I plan on getting another puppy next summer, and I will be calling for Maggie again!! Maggie- Thank you for all you do, you picked the right professional field!!

I can't say enough about Shelby and Maggie at Milwaukee Suburban K9. I am a new dog owner and they helped me through every step of the way. I felt so comfortable and felt that their methods were aligned with how I wanted my dog trained that I went ahead and signed up for a 2 week board and train. It iwas the best decision I made! My furbaby lived with Shelby for 2 weeks, got lots of loving, socialization and training, and the communication was outstanding. Shelby sent emails, photos and videos every other day and answered all my questions promptly and with tons of explanation. Shelby even switched out the training collar that I had to one that actually fit without a word. It's a leap of faith to trust someone else to care, love, train and watch over your puppy but I'm so glad that I trusted this amazing group of trainers. Thank you!!

Our training with Suburban K9 exceeded our expectations. We did a 10 pack of trainings for our big 8 mo. Bernedoodle puppy, Stanley, and we’re so happy we invested in this. Stanley had issues with jumping up, walking nicely on a leash (big puller), and overall puppy habits we needed to break. I will say we were a bit hesitant at first to purchase based on price, however, you truly get what you pay for and it was 100% worth it for us. Maggie was our trainer and she was OUTSTANDING! After our first lesson, Stanley was walking so well on a leash! He wouldn’t leave our side on walks just after 1 lesson. We couldn’t believe it. We just ended our sessions and Stanley is such a well trained dog now; our friends and family all comment on how he’s such a well behaved dog. He walks so nicely on a leash, doesn’t jump up anymore, greets people nicely at the door/with doorbell, goes in his kennel on command, and now we even trust him outside with us OFF LEASH! Our experience with Maggie and suburban K9 was truly great and we’d recommend it to anyone considering. Maggie was fabulous, so kind and warm welcoming, and Stanley loved her. We’ll definitely miss our trainings with Maggie and we can’t thank suburban K9 enough!
