Devon Oakes has been the dog trainer for my Malti-poo puppy for over a year. He knows instructional behavior and uses it with positive reinforcement for obedience, socialization and environmental comfort. Devon sincerely loves my malti-poo and we think of him as part of our family. He is patient and kind but is not afraid to give a stern NO for inappropriate behavior or inaccurate learning. All done with love - no question or concern about that.I highly recommend Devon as a dog trainer. We were so happy with him that we bought the extra 5 lesson package. He has made my malti-poo the dog she has become: an obedient, eager-to-please, loving dog.

We are so thankful to Jared & Suburban K9! We rescued an almost 4 year old German Shepherd, who came from a home where he was mainly an outside dog, but was crated inside during the night. He had many behavioral issues inside, i.e. jumping onto (& over) the couch, jumping on beds, attacking brooms & the vacuum, and would continuously pull on the leash during walks. Jared fixed all of these problems during Kado’s 2 week board & train in his home. Since Kado has been home, he is a joy to be around! Walks are so much more enjoyable, and he no longer jumps on anything he's not supposed to. Another love Kado has is fetching (or taking) any kind of ball he can get a hold of. He almost didn't know how to control himself with any ball in sight before the training. He now is very good about ”dropping” the ball and is able to stay laying down in the backyard while we chip & putt- he actually resists his urge to go after the golf ball even when it rolls past him! Again, thank you Jared!

We had a great experience with suburban k9 and forever grateful for them. We can now take our husky and corgi to public places with no worries. Devon and Katelyn did a great job in training our pups and also providing us with the tools and knowledge to keep our dogs trained. Overall great experience! Would definitely recommend.

Our time with Devon is coming to a temporary end, as we finish up our training sessions. We have gained so much knowledge from our time with him and we know we will have him back as things arise. Devon has helped me to be able to enjoy and love walks with my 65 pound Australian shepherd. There was a time where I couldn’t take him out on a walk because his pulling was too much to handle. Devon has also helped us to work through some dog reactivity we had with our Aussie. I now feel comfortable taking him on walks by myself and I have come to look forward to our walks. Devon also helped us to integrate a German shepherd puppy into our pack and established basic obedience. Our German shepherd puppy was giving us a run for our money and we felt desperate. In just two sessions Devon helped us to establish rules and gave us tools to utilize to help us manage her tough puppy behaviors. One last thing that I really appreciated in working with Devon, is that he took my fears and anxieties into consideration. My dogs mean the world to me and he always put their safety first. Devon allowed me to go at a pace that was comfortable for me while also helping to push the boundaries in a healthy direction that my dogs really needed and benefited from. I could go on forever but needless to say, we would recommend Devon a thousand times over! He is amazing and if we ever need him in the future we will be asking for his services! Thank you Devon!!

Katelyn is an amazing trainer for both dogs and their people. She tailors training to each dog and their family and deeply cares for the dogs she trains. She and her team are some of the best trainers I've seen in action, and I wholeheartedly recommend Suburban K9.

All I can say are my two Boxer puppies cam back from training as two new well-behaved dogs. Prior to sending them off with Jared and Devon for two weeks, my puppies didn't listen, they jumped on everyone, pulled when walking, and were completely out of control. When they came back they were excited to see me, but they did so with grace and control. They now walk along side me and don't pull, they sit and stay on command, they don't jump on anyone, and are the sweetest puppies. I highly recommend Suburban K-9!! Jared and Devon also trained me and my family the commands and helped us learn how to continue training. Any corrections were made at the in-home training sessions. Katelyn was fantastic to work with! She really understands dogs, and she has gone above and beyond to help our sweet, anxious pup. She has made tremendous progress with Katelyn! From now on, whenever we adopt a dog, Katelyn will be first on our list to contact for help with training and good habits.

Jared is AMAZING! Our puppy Jane...was counter surfing...jumping on people..barking...chewing and more...Two weeks with Jared and WOW ! Completely different dog. Still happy, healthy and playful but WOW so obedient. I have asked Jared to pencil Jane in for the next level of training in May 2022. Definitely worth the investment plus Jane had fun with AZ Jared, his dog and bearded dragon...yes..Jane and a lizard hung out in same bed ! Thank you my friend...I am overwhelmed by your training talent. M

Although this program is a little pricey, it is so worth it! Katlyn was AMAZING!!!! She was very firm yet so tender and loving with my pup. What she accomplished in only 2 weeks with my pup blew my mind! Katlyn also taught me to do all the commands afterwards so it left no unanswered questions once I got my dog back. I highly recommend this company and if your lucky enough to get Katlyn as your trainer, you will not be disappointed. My pup is literally a rescue we found in the desert left to die with zero training and now people are awed when they meet him!

Our Whoodle would counter surf, play keep away with any item she wasn't supposed to have, dash out the front door, and jump on guests when they entered the home. After only two weeks with Jared our dogs behavior has completely changed. All her issues are fixed and she follows specific commands. We can even enjoy walks with her without her constantly pulling us around the neighborhood. We highly recommend using K9 and Jared is AWESOME!!!!

I would recommend Suburban K9 to anyone needing to train their dogs. I noticed a difference in by dogs’ behavior almost immediately. They work with the owners to make sure they understand the training process as well. This has made home life and travel with my pups more enjoyable. Jared, our trainer is amazing with handling all 3 of my dogs at one time.

I would highly recommend Suburba K9 Katelyn was awesome in training my 60 lb. Airedale. Now I enjoy taking Ruby on her daily walks.

We went into training feeling very hesitant about whether or not it would help with our 10 and a half month old black lab puppy. I am pregnant and we were very concerned with bringing in a new baby, while dealing with our pup’s lack of manners and boundaries, as well as his endless energy. Devon was able to totally turn things around for us and get our dog back on track. We were and have been super impressed and surprised with all of the progress we have seen from him within the 5 sessions we had initially signed up for. Very excited to see our pup continue to grow from here with more sessions with Devon.

Suburban K9 was a great experience. Devon, out trainer was AMAZING with our pup. Very patient, knowledgable, detailed, experienced and enthusiastic!! Toughest to train is us, the parents. Ha! He is patient and kind with us too! We can't thank you enough Devon for making the 2 week bootcamp a very positive experience.

Katelyn Anhalt is a miracle worker! Our Cheweenie, Buster, is a rescue dog who had a very, very tough start to life. As a puppy, he was restricted to a kennel for 6 months (maybe more). His owners surrendered him to a rescue organization as their health was declining and they couldn’t care for the dog. Buster languished at this rescue in horrible conditions for months. The ad for Buster that I found on-line turned out to be a total mis-representation of the situation. Things mis-represented: age, microchip information, potty trained, leash trained, to name a few. In spite of all of these negatives, I fell in love with Buster! Loved his spunky personality, his kisses, his underbite, and his ears (one up and one down). I needed to rescue him so he could have a great life. I knew it would be an uphill battle, but I had trained dogs (Labs and German Shorthairs) so I thought I was up to the challenge. Wrong! Once adopted, I really struggled with his training (potty, leash, manners, obedience, barking), essentially everything! After a tough couple of months, I was hopeless and ready to give up and surrender Buster. Then, miraculously, I saw an ad for Suburban K9 and after going on-line to do some research and reading testimonials, I felt a glimmer of hope. After a thorough review and a comparison to other training programs, Suburban K9 looked perfect. I placed a call. I could not be happier about our experience with Katelyn and her training methods. From our first session, she has exceeded all of my very high expectations. Katelyn is a great listener and communicator (with both dogs and humans). She always checks-in with us to ensure we are on the same page, that we are comfortable with what she’s doing, and we are happy with our progress. Katelyn is patient, energetic, patient, caring..........did I mention patient?.... and she loves dogs and Buster loves her! At the conclusion of our last session, I told her I was putting her on speed dial. Buster has far exceeded the goals we established at the first session. I am truly amazed and extremely appreciative. I pass her contact information to friends who have seen the transformation in Buster. They think he’s a different dog! I recommend Katelyn very highly. You absolutely will not be disappointed. Katelyn you’re a Rock Star!!!

Misiu and I LOVED having Katelyn work with us! I rescued Misiu in Feb. 2022, from a shelter in Texas. He was scared of everything and everyone except me. He was on MULTIPLE anxiety medications a day, and came with a big warning of his uncontrollable anxiety. I couldn't take him on a walking trail because if we saw another person or a dog, then he would bark and growl and I would feel very uncomfortable and didn't want him to cause any harm and be marked as a "dangerous dog". When I moved out to AZ, I instantly decided we needed some training. We were long past the known "3-3-3" (3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months) for him to feel comfortable with me around, but now I needed to be comfortable with him in public. When I first met Katelyn, I had my boyfriend distracting Misiu in another room because I didn't want him to possibly hurt her while she was trying to get into the house. We worked a lot on leash reactivity and overall obedience. Once we got that handled, we started getting him out in public to be around dogs, kids, and other adults. Katelyn pushed me as an owner to trust the dog I couldn't see quite yet. Needless to say, Misiu now can go to the dog park and runs around with the biggest smile on his face. I can walk him comfortably through stores that allow dogs, and right past any adult or child without fearing that I need to turn around or even restrain so hard that my hands are sore after I release my grip. Misiu also is on absolutely no anxiety medications! He also gets overly excited when he sees Katelyn coming up to him that sometimes the "sit-stay" command was a little too difficult to maintain. Sometimes these shelter dogs just need a little love and sometimes us owners just need someone to give us a little support and tell us we're doing things okay. I will recommend Katelyn and the Suburban K9 trainers to anyone who is in need of a trainer. I cannot thank Katelyn enough for showing me the beautiful boy that was underneath all of that previous fear.

I have 2 german shepards working with Katelyn and Jared has been amazing. It's a relationship no different the raising kids but the trainers at Suburban K9 are amazing, willing to teach you so that your animals continue to excel. I would highly recommend the boarding plus program.
