Erin and Alex were the BEST trainers. They listened to my goals and objectives for our puppy (Ginger) during the training sessions and tailored each session to ensure all those goals were met during our time together. They actually accomplished more than the goals I set out and trained both Ginger and me how to have more successful interactions. Learning from them was fun and rewarding and watching Ginger learn manners and obedience was priceless! They were even willing to work with my 6-year-old son helping him to train and successfully work with his dog. I HIGHLY recommend Suburban K9 for all of your dog training needs!

Izzy came into our lives unexpectedly. Another puppy? It's been a long time since we had a puppy, but she came anyway. She was much too young at only 6 weeks, but something about her told me it would work. Our Izzy proved to be everything and more that a standard poodle could ever be, to the point of exhaustion! After a great deal of research, I came upon Suburban K9 Dog Training. They were extremely helpful. We set up our first appointment with Erin Hansen and continued on for another 5 weeks. Erin is knowledgeable, kind, experienced, and she listens to both the needs of the owner and dog. Izzy was challenging for us to walk on lead as we are retired and running three miles a day probably isn't in our future. The more she grew, the more challenging she became and the more challenges she expected, but Erin showed us how to curb this into a doable routine and Izzy is thriving happily. She walks like a champ and sits at my side - no pulling, no nonsense. Izzy loves Erin! She waits by the door when I tell her she's going to arrive. Erin has such a way with animals, and it was apparent from the moment they met that Izzy had finally met someone who would challenge her just enough. We are proud to say that Izzy has graduated and is moving on to do some work at a school in the new year. This is only possible because of the professionalism and good training that was provided by K9 and Erin Hansen. Thank you, Erin for providing a new window into Izzy's world and helping her to become the best dog she can be. She is my loyal companion, but now she behaves like the champion she is. We are forever indebted and will continue to use all of the methods you have provided. We had a phenomenal experience with Suburban K-9 with training our two Golden Retrievers. Erin is top notch in her knowledge and approach. She helped teach us some strategies that we could use between sessions and was very encouraging the entire time. We have noticed a night and day difference with our two goldens following commands which has made walks, visitors much less stressful. Highly recommend Erin & Suburban K-9!!

Erin is absolutely incredible!! She helped us so much!!! Going through the 10 classes, our golden retriever puppy, thrived and seemed to really enjoy the training and systems we put in place. It helped us humans set him up for success. Worth its weight in gold. Thank you Erin!!!

Drex had a great time with his trainer Alex. He came in at 7.5 months, and needed all his basic training. We were in Indianapolis for a family emergency for a few months and lost the time to train our hard headed puppy. I choose suburban k9 at first because they were way more responsive to e mails and questions I had compared to other board and trains. That responsiveness continued over the training, with daily emails and pictures. After two weeks he came back to us a perfect pup and they gave us the tools we needed to keep it going. When it came to our follow up appointments, they worked with our schedule and even did one over zoom once we were back home across the country. Alex was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to and seemed open to work whatever problem we may be having. You can tell they love dogs, including mine!

When deciding to expand our family get a German Shepherd puppy we knew that we wanted to start him out on the right foot so we researched and decided to go with Suburban K-9. Our experience has been second to none. Our trainer, Erin H, has been amazing. She's so knowledgeable and Kota just loves her. We did the first two weeks of board and train when he was a younger puppy (13 weeks) we had such a great experience we ended up upgrading to get even more time with Erin. Kota gets compliments everywhere we go and it's all thanks to the skills he has learned during his training. If you are not sure if you should do it i'm here to tell you...do it! You will not be sorry.

I did the 3-week Board & Train with my new puppy Nelson and Erin was absolutely fantastic. I couldn't say enough good things about Suburban K9 and the progress Nelson made. I was worried that being so young (10 weeks old) would prevent him from learning a lot but he is so well behaved and we have a great foundation for ongoing training and reinforcing what he learned. The follow up appointments were also really helpful to pinpoint some of the smaller things we can continue to work on.

We just completed our year long training for our three dogs with Erin from the Indianapolis region. What a transformation for our rat terriers! We loved working with Erin. She brought positivity, joy and professionalism to each session. The dogs loved her. We highly recommend Erin and Suburban K9 Dog Training!

Erin has gone above and beyond training our golden retriever, Millie. We have been working with her since Millie was 4 months old and she was able to teach her all of the basics. Everyone raves what a well behaved dog we have and we couldn't agree more - we love Erin & K9, and refer them constantly whenever we know people with new puppies!

Erin was phenomenal to work with! We started our year package when my mini bernedoodle was 9 months old or so and about to drive me crazy with his counter surfing and unharnessed energy. Erin was able to immediately connect with Hawkeye and my kids, addressed all our concerns, and helped us develop strategies to make life with our quirky pup much more enjoyable. Hawkeye is a much more confident and obedient dog at the end of our year! We will be sorry to see her go!

Erin of Suburban K9 did an excellent job training our dog Milo as well as training us. Erin was always prompt for all appointments and professional. She clearly loves animals and demonstrated patience with the challenges of out control rescue dog. She was always willing to answer our questions and provided instructions to address behavioral problems. I can't say enough great things about Suburban K9 and Erin Hansen our trainer! I have always had dogs, my entire life, and thought I knew what I was doing. I had even fostered in the past. Until I adopted Olive. She is amazing, but I was in over my head with her. Then I contacted Suburban K9, set up an intro and from there, I learned, I did not know enough, not even close. Erin patiently helped me to learn to teach Olive basic commands and obedience, but also helped with Olive's separation anxiety. In addition she worked with me and my other dog, Frankie, who is the opposite of Olive and afraid of all new things and people. Their approach to positive reinforcement as a reward (vs always using treats) worked great for us. I didn't always have to have a treat available! Erin also helped me step out of my comfort zone with Frankie in exposing him to new experiences. Never in a forced way, but instead told me to "just try it, see how it goes". but she gave me the confidence to do just that vs protecting him. She showed me different methods to try like a prong collar and even an eCollar. Always pointing out that, used properly, both can be effective. Then patiently walking me through proper use of different tools like those. And they do work, at least for me they did. Each step and command is taught in steps, one building off the next. Today, after our last session, Olive and Frankie are both different dogs! The training and practicing from me will continue, but I've got the tools, skills, and confidence to continue with them both. Their methods, flexibility, and customization to the person and dog really do work. It definitely required me doing my homework, and practicing and holding myself accountable, but I'm so incredibly happy with where we are, and I have Erin Hansen and Suburban K9 to thank for it! Frankie will now go to a park and while anxious, he explores. Olive will sit, stay, no longer countersurfs, knows down, can be left alone in the house, and knows "come". Truly, the best a dog owner could hope for in a trainer!

Erin was amazing! She was very patient and knowledgeable. She communicated well and had us excited to train our dogs. We will definitely recommend her to friends/family and we use her in the future.

My husband and I knew we wanted to have our puppy trained, but we weren’t really sure who to trust or what to expect. Suburban K9 was recommended and we completed in home training sessions. We contacted Suburban K9 to help us with our dog Hugo. We had recently moved to a new town and our 2-year old golden retriever had begun to exhibit some reactivity issues to the dogs in the new neighborhood. It mad walks stressful. He would pull on the leash and create havoc when he saw dogs or new people. Erin Hansen from Suburban K9 helped us to learn some very important rules to implement in our house and in the neighborhood. These tools gave us the confidence to go on walks without fear that Hugo would react negatively to his new neighbors, and made living with him much more enjoyable.
