Emily is currently a nursing student and working through a degree to be a front line worker. Not only that, but her schooling causes longer days/hours, a limited budget, and all of this was happening in the middle of a pandemic. Maisy was a typical excitable doodle puppy! She had all the excitability issues and needed some structure. Thankfully through a combination package of a board and train stay and house calls, we were able to reinvent Maisy’s true self to be a well-behaved gal!
Summary after initial 2 week Board and Train:
Maisy absolutely rocked it during her 2 week board and train. During her stay she learned basic commands, house manners, socialization, and boundary training with flags in her yard. She was super excited to show off her skills to her owner and also to see her family after 2 weeks!
Follow up 1: Maisy is doing great and using her skills in different situations! She even went on a trip with her owner to Deer Creek, Maryland to practice her new skills. Today Maisy’s owner, Emily, learned another task. Today, we taught Maisy threshold at doorways, Maisy has to be told “free” before going through doors to ensure safety. She did awesome!
Follow up 2: During today’s follow up, Maisy got to work on her off-leash listening skills. She was great and ran around the field listening appropriately when asked to respond to the come command. What a cool way to advance training and give Maisy a fun life to live!
Follow up 3: Worked on door manners with a visitor and also reactivity out the window at passersbys. We also worked on proper grooming etiquette, because being a doodle they needed to be groomed frequently, Maisy was struggling being brushed by her owner and was constantly needing to be shaved at the groomer. We worked on a technique called line brushing.
