Originally from San Antonio, Michael was born and raised in South Central Texas. He’s had a passion for animals since childhood. Before he could have a furry friend of his own, he would frequently volunteer to help care for his neighbors’ pets. He moved to Austin in 2011 to pursue a Social Work degree at St. Edward’s University to counsel and be an advocate for children. Additionally, he participated in volunteer opportunities with organizations such as the Lower Colorado River Authority, through which he educated children on conservation efforts.
Throughout his time in school, he gained experience by working at hotels, restaurants, and pet/house sitting. These experiences strengthened his confidence in working with animals, and led him to seek out professional opportunities where he could learn proper techniques to train dogs. After training dogs at larger chains and local kennel facilities, he was able to learn about different approaches that diversified his skills. Michael believes his unique perspective and background can help his clients feel right at home with their pups.
In his free time, you can find Michael spending time with his partner and their two dogs, Rocko and Xochitl. They can be found exploring the hill country trails, lakes, or in the kitchen trying out a new recipe to enjoy!
