For as far as he can remember, Joe has had a dog! Growing up, he would go over to neighbor’s houses up and down the block to try to play with their dogs as well because his love for canines seemed to be insatiable.
As the years went on, that love only grew. His goal was to be able to work with animals for a living! He started by interning at Brookfield Zoo, where he worked with tons of species, including black rhinoceroses & grey kangaroos.
After the internship, he moved down to San Antonio to work for Joel Slaven’s Professional Animals at Seaworld. Here he gained an enormous amount of experience and knowledge about dog training. He later moved back to Chicago and has worked at Brookfield Zoo, Lincoln Park Zoo, Pawsitively Heaven Pet Resort, and now Suburban K9!
Throughout his journey, he has kept up with his hobbies of writing music and performing stand-up comedy. He also recently started a horror podcast with his fiancee. When they are not working on episodes, they’re playing ball with their two dogs (English Mastiff & Corgi Bassett).
Out of the dozens of animals Joe has worked with, he feels that he has always felt the most comfortable around dogs. With his laid-back but upbeat attitude, Joe seeks to truly make a positive difference in the lives of both the dogs he’ll be working with and the people those dogs call their family as well.
