One day, when Erica was four years old, she and her sister sat down to watch their favorite cartoon show, Cowboy Bob’s Corral. Bob happened to be featuring several dogs up for adoption that day, among them a sable collie mix puppy with the biggest, deepest, most beautiful eyes they had ever seen. As soon as the credits rolled, Erica’s mom piled the sisters into the car and drove two hours to adopt the pup they named Bonnie Lass—Erica was smitten, and dogs have been her constant companions ever since.
After living in Chicago for 10 years, Erica and her pet rabbit returned to her hometown with dreams of starting a small farm (for some reason, her rabbit was particularly insistent that she plant an herb garden). The farm has evolved over the years, and Erica is now a proud mom to four goats, a donkey named Gracie, a cat with a big attitude, a bunch of chickens who won’t stay still long enough to be counted, and Olav, a senior Pyrenees/border collie mix who is living his absolute best life.
After a successful career in the restaurant business, Erica was ready for a new adventure; just like that day when her beloved Bonnie Lass appeared on television, Suburban K9 came along at just the right time. Erica is thrilled to be a part of the training team, helping dogs and their owners learn together and find joy in each other. In addition to training dogs, hanging out with dogs, playing with dogs, thinking about dogs and dreaming about dogs, Erica also loves to garden and bake old-world style bread. If you ask nicely, she might even bring you some!
