Christina has loved animals since she was a child. While most kids were watching cartoons, she was watching Animal Planet and reading every book she could find about animals. Her lifelong dream has been to make a career out of her love for animals. She has a master’s degree in Conservation Biology from the University of Central Florida. During her many years of school, when she wasn’t studying or working, she spent her time with animals. She had her first experience training animals while volunteering with dolphins and otters at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. She then discovered the impact she could make while working with animals through her manatee rehabilitation internship at ZooTampa.
After graduate school, Christina started working at the local nonprofit shelter, Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. There, she discovered her passion for working with pets that have behavioral challenges. Her favorite part of training shelter animals was helping fearful cats and dogs gain the confidence needed to show their true personalities, so they could find their forever homes. In addition to the work she did at the shelter, she also opened her home to foster animals in need, primarily caring for bottle-fed kittens.
In her free time you can find her hanging out with her three dogs and four cats. Christina is excited to continue to make a difference helping dogs and their families through training with Suburban K9!
