Layla is “playing dead” in this video. We trained her to wave her paw and then fall over when she hears the word “bang”. Since she is a Victorian Bulldog she doesn’t exactly do the command quickly. We call it, moving at the speed of bulldog!
Board and Train dog, Scarlett, is a four month old German Shepherd that is beginning her off leash training. Scarlett had been in our board and train program for about 5 days when this video was taken. We do a lot of work in the first week of training with the dog dragging a leash and move to true off leash obedience soon after!
Board and Train dog Blaze, a German Shepherd, practicing off leash obedience in one of our fields. He has progressed past the point of wearing a long line or leash. Once a dog reacts perfectly on a long line, we then train exclusively off leash to ensure that the dog will listen to his owner no matter what.
Luca is a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix that is staying with Suburban K9 for our dog bootcamp. He is excelling at his training! After 10 days he is able to come when called off leash as well as heel without the leash on. In this video we also have a cameo by Scruntz who is playing the “distraction” role. We are working with Meb on his fear aggression with other dogs. His trainer Maggie has worked to train and calm down Meb’s heightened anxiety around other dogs. Meb and Maggie did a great job braving the humid weather. The Air conditioning and ice cubes afterwards were a welcomed treat!

These two labs were sent all the way from Texas for our doggie bootcamp. Their owner spends a lot of time in the desert and needs his dogs to stay close. In the video, you can see how the dogs are conditioned to stay within a reasonable distance of the trainer. Not only do they come when called, but they have been taught not to wander too far.
